The Declaration of Love Project is an anthology of 11 short audio pieces written by North Carolina playwrights all inspired by the same writing prompt — “declaration of love.”
Episode 4, written by Areon Mobasher is titled Stone Flower.
“Stone Flower” is about Mary, a civil engineer under so much pressure, she just might collapse. A contemporary office drama with a lot of heart, Stone Flower pulls back the curtain on our public vs. private personas.

Areon Mobasher (Playwright, “Stone Flower”): Areon is an actor, writer, and musician, among other unspeakable things. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2018 with a BA in Literature and a minor in Theatre. He’s been involved in the Triangle theatre scene as an actor, composer, and sound designer since 2014. He normally does not refer to himself in the third person. Instagram/Twitter: @areonmobasher
Rimsha Afzal (Actor, Stone Flower): Rimsha is the Artistic Director of The Ink Project, a global writers’ liaison that serves to increase visibility of underrepresented writers and narratives. She is also a dedicated actor who has been seen in several productions including The Container (2019) and Blue Sky (2016). Rimsha holds a Master’s degree in Bioethics from Duke University and is proud of her abilities to switch between an artist & scientist. She plays “Mary”/Mehrnaz in Stone Flower.
Matthew Hager (Actor, StoneFlower): Matthew is a theatre artist living in Raleigh, NC. As an actor, Matthew has performed with North Carolina Symphony, North Carolina Theatre, Bulldog Ensemble Theater, Manbites Dog, Deep Dish, and Burning Coal (company member), among others. When not performing, Matthew teaches voice and acting for NC Theatre Conservatory and writes children’s musicals. In 2017, Matthew started Aggregate Theatre Company with the mission of developing a younger theatre going audience in the Triangle. Matthew plays Doug in “Stone Flower.”
