Food for Thought

In 2021, Artist Soapbox conducted a 12 month pilot program for aspiring audio dramatists graciously funded by the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation.

All of the audio dramas were inspired by the prompt Food for Thought.

Emerging Audio Dramatist Lab

Artist Soapbox invested in a cohort of writers and supported the amazing work they did during the 12 month lab.

Co-produced by Tamara Kissane and Aurelia Belfield, who had previously worked in similar producing capacities for Declaration of Love,  The New Colossus, and Jesus Pancake, this series features stories from Ashley-Ruth Bernier, Shea Stanley, and Tori Grace Nichols, all inspired by the same prompt. (Food For Thought)

Belfield and Kissane built out a program providing several levels of support for their writers:

  1. Payment throughout the writing process
  2. A schedule of food experts and writing experts throughout the year
  3. Regular meetings where writers could meet and talk about their work
  4. Support for the production of an excerpt of their pilot and completed outline for a whole audio drama series
