035: Soprano Andrea Edith Moore curates a career filled with classical and contemporary music

A conversation about curating a career, creating new work, and celebrating the people of this place.

Soprano Andrea Edith Moore‘s performances have spanned the globe from Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires to Munich and Hamburg and back home to her native North Carolina where she is a regular principle artist with the North Carolina Opera.

Ms. Moore spent this June as a fellow with the Grammy Award winning and world renowned contemporary music ensemble Eighth Blackbird in their Blackbird Creative Lab. The Lab’s mission is to inspire the next generation of performers and composers to share in the ensemble’s vision: to champion a distinctive, dynamic and engaging performance aesthetic.

In addition to discussing her preparation for the Blackbird Creative Lab, we delved into the chamber opera Family Secrets: Kith and Kin a work that Andrea Edith Moore commissioned, produced, and starred in, composed by Daniel Thomas Davis.

She recently performed the role of Dianarah in Patrick Morganelli’s inventive opera Hercules vs. Vampires screened with the 1961 cult classic film “Hercules in the Haunted World” with NCO.

She commissioned, produced and premiered a new song cycle entitled Family Secrets: Kith and Kin by Daniel Thomas Davis which received its concert world premiere in March of 2015 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Family Secrets: Kith and Kin was produced by NCO in February of 2018 in a world premiere staging by Francesca Talenti.
