Tamara Kissane:

This is Artist Soapbox.

Tamara Kissane:

Through interviews and original scripted audio fiction.

Tamara Kissane:

We deliver stories that speak to your hearts and your minds.

Tamara Kissane:

Hey Soapboxers.

Tamara Kissane:mara here with a quick season:Tamara Kissane:

I'm gonna include a hodgepodge of season related thoughts, some numbers,

Tamara Kissane:

what's next recommendations, cetera.

Tamara Kissane:

It's a little formless jumble of gratitude in audio form.

Tamara Kissane:

Yep.

Tamara Kissane:

This year we started a season model here at Artist Soapbox,

Tamara Kissane:

starting at the beginning of May and ending at the end of August.

Tamara Kissane:

I'm really happy with that rhythm.

Tamara Kissane:

It gives us an opportunity to work on other projects

Tamara Kissane:

and to plan the next season.

Tamara Kissane:

And it gives you the opportunity to catch up on any episodes that

Tamara Kissane:

you missed during your busy summer.

Tamara Kissane:

As I mentioned at the beginning of this season, artist soapbox

Tamara Kissane:

is continuing to grow and evolve.

Tamara Kissane:

We still have an interview podcast and we still produce scripted audio fiction, but

Tamara Kissane:

we continue to tweak the knobs on the who, what, when, where, and how of all of that.

Tamara Kissane:

We continue to love our new dynamic logo and branding

Tamara Kissane:

materials and our fancy website.

Tamara Kissane:

If you haven't seen those, then hop over to artist soapbox.org and enjoy everything

Tamara Kissane:

is so pretty while you are there.

Tamara Kissane:

Please subscribe to our newsletter, which I send out about once a.

Tamara Kissane:

Sadly, our old email list did not transfer when we transitioned

Tamara Kissane:

to our new website host.

Tamara Kissane:

So we are slowly building it back.

Tamara Kissane:

And of course, please subscribe to this podcast via your favorite

Tamara Kissane:

podcast platform, because we will be back for another season

Tamara Kissane:

that you won't want to miss.

Tamara Kissane:

If you have been listening, you'll know that this season we featured

Tamara Kissane:

four incredible guest hosts who really knocked it out of the park.

Tamara Kissane:

Big thanks to Lormarev Jones, Griffin James, Juliana Finch, and Mara

Tamara Kissane:

Thomas for their professionalism, thoughtfulness and general awesomeness.

Tamara Kissane:

I'd be really curious to hear what you think, but I feel like this season's

Tamara Kissane:

interviews were so encouraging, positive affirming, and very importantly, practical

Tamara Kissane:

the conversations included so many tools and tips that you can put to use.

Tamara Kissane:

One of our catch phrases for Artist Soapbox is "practical

Tamara Kissane:

tools for the creative process".

Tamara Kissane:

And I feel like we really delivered on that this season with lots of humor

Tamara Kissane:

and lovely conversation as bonuses.

Tamara Kissane:

If an episode sparked something for you, please share it

Tamara Kissane:

with your friends and family.

Tamara Kissane:

The most meaningful kind of publicity is a simple recommendation

Tamara Kissane:

from one person to another.

Tamara Kissane:

That is how we find our audience and spread the.

Tamara Kissane:

If you would like to send your feedback, then it is feedback gathering time.

Tamara Kissane:

I will be meeting with our four awesome guest hosts in the next

Tamara Kissane:

week or so to debrief on this season and plan for the next one.

Tamara Kissane:

And we'd love to have your feedback to help guide that conversation.

Tamara Kissane:

Artist Soapbox is on all the socials of course, and you'll see

Tamara Kissane:

those links in the show notes.

Tamara Kissane:

You can also reach me at artist soapbox at Gmail.

Tamara Kissane:

Dot com.

Tamara Kissane:

Alrighty.

Tamara Kissane:

Here's a little season recap.

Tamara Kissane:u like some numbers in season:Tamara Kissane:

audio fiction episodes, which include three from the food for thought project.

Tamara Kissane:

And one from curious theater collective ,four amazing guest hosts, which I

Tamara Kissane:

already mentioned, two guest blog posts.

Tamara Kissane:

That's right.

Tamara Kissane:

We're still blogging.

Tamara Kissane:

17 interview episodes episodes 1 53 to 1 69 from May 2nd to August 29th.

Tamara Kissane:

See, I didn't even include this one.

Tamara Kissane:

So I guess it will be kind of 18 episodes.

Tamara Kissane:

People listened in from 31 countries, 38 US states.

Tamara Kissane:

Very cool.

Tamara Kissane:

I'm sure you've been waiting for an update about the first season

Tamara Kissane:

of Jesus pancake, our original scripted audio fiction series.

Tamara Kissane:

Yes.

Tamara Kissane:

As always, we are in post-production for Jesus pancake.

Tamara Kissane:

We have a trailer completed, which is amazing.

Tamara Kissane:

All the intro and outros done, and a first round of edits for all

Tamara Kissane:

nine episodes at this very moment.

Tamara Kissane:

I'm actually working on episode six, I'm pulling together a second round of notes

Tamara Kissane:

to give to our awesome sound designer.

Tamara Kissane:

And then we'll do another listen after that, there is so much listening . As

Tamara Kissane:

a reminder, Jesus pancake was made possible by the generous support

Tamara Kissane:

of our Indiegogo campaign support.

Tamara Kissane:

Andy grant from the man bites dog theater fund.

Tamara Kissane:

I'm sending massive gratitude to them every day.

Tamara Kissane:

And in all the ways another project on the horizon is ASB X live.

Tamara Kissane:th,:Tamara Kissane:

Co-produced by artist soapbox and capital arts theater Guild.

Tamara Kissane:

ASB X live will be an evening of theatrical fun.

Tamara Kissane:

Featuring live presentations of two original audio dramas

Tamara Kissane:

written by North Carolina writers.

Tamara Kissane:

These live performances will be recorded and released to the public

Tamara Kissane:in podcast form later in:Tamara Kissane:

So hopefully you can be there if you're local and if not, you

Tamara Kissane:

can still join in on the fun.

Tamara Kissane:

We released the podcasts.

Tamara Kissane:

Currently, we are reviewing scripts for the ASB X live event.

Tamara Kissane:

Once the two scripts are selected, we'll ramp up casting, build a

Tamara Kissane:

team and start rehearsals to stay in the loop about this event and

Tamara Kissane:

others subscribe to the newsletter.

Tamara Kissane:

As I mentioned, follow us on the socials, etcetera.

Tamara Kissane:

Alrighty.

Tamara Kissane:

Just a couple of personal items to catch you up on.

Tamara Kissane:

If you are curious.

Tamara Kissane:

Oh, and.

Tamara Kissane:

Two podcast recommendations.

Tamara Kissane:

So let's do the podcasts first.

Tamara Kissane:

If you like fiction podcasts and you are looking for something very

Tamara Kissane:

fun, clever snarky, and from the UK, then I recommend Madam magenta,

Tamara Kissane:

Sonos Mystica here's the description.

Tamara Kissane:

"Madam magenta, psychic medium and inventor of the drink along audio book

Tamara Kissane:

reads her best selling books with support from her adoringhusband, Bernard."

Tamara Kissane:

In one of the reviews, someone described Madam magenta as "beautifully chaotic".

Tamara Kissane:

And I concur.

Tamara Kissane:

It's super fun.

Tamara Kissane:

If you like fiction podcasts and you are looking for something smart,

Tamara Kissane:

heartfelt, deep, and sciencey, then I recommend midnight burger.

Tamara Kissane:

Here's the description.

Tamara Kissane:

"When Gloria took a waitressing job at a diner outside Phoenix,

Tamara Kissane:

she didn't realize she was now an employee of midnight burger, a time

Tamara Kissane:

traveling dimension, spanning diner."

Tamara Kissane:

One reviewer describes midnight burger this way "the general narrative

Tamara Kissane:

addresses the fundamental issues of existence with no pretension".

Tamara Kissane:

Yep.

Tamara Kissane:

I would describe it that way too.

Tamara Kissane:

So make sure you start from the beginning of each of these episode

Tamara Kissane:

one season one, um, because they are cumulative experiences.

Tamara Kissane:

So start from the beginning and carry on.

Tamara Kissane:

They both have several seasons.

Tamara Kissane:

I also wanna recommend a series of workshops being led by my friend,

Tamara Kissane:

Allison Kirkland the workshops are called writing the body, a creative

Tamara Kissane:

writing workshop for women writers.

Tamara Kissane:

It's gonna happen on Thursday evenings from six 30 to 8:30 PM.

Tamara Kissane:

Eastern standard on zoom.

Tamara Kissane:

So you don't have to be local beginning October 13th.

Tamara Kissane:

There's an application and it closes on October 5th.

Tamara Kissane:

I'm gonna read the description because I think it's really beautiful.

Tamara Kissane:

And it'll give you a sense of allison and of what you will

Tamara Kissane:

get from experiencing her class.

Tamara Kissane:

Okay.

Tamara Kissane:

"Writing the body.

Tamara Kissane:

What does it mean to have a body in the world?

Tamara Kissane:

How can we find language for the experiences of our bodies?

Tamara Kissane:

How can we reclaim the stories of our bodies from whoever

Tamara Kissane:

else might be telling them?

Tamara Kissane:

Sometimes we don't think of all the different bodies that exist in the world.

Tamara Kissane:

Pregnant bodies, postpartum bodies, disabled bodies, bodies with

Tamara Kissane:

needs that feel like too much.

Tamara Kissane:

Radicalized bodies, trans bodies, immigrant bodies, bodies at rest

Tamara Kissane:

bodies in motion bodies also have different ways of existing in the world.

Tamara Kissane:

Bodies change over time.

Tamara Kissane:

Bodies have histories.

Tamara Kissane:

In this generative class, we will use writing exercises, prompts, and

Tamara Kissane:

selected readings to process and communicate the experience of having a

Tamara Kissane:

body, whatever that might mean to you.

Tamara Kissane:

Additionally, this class will offer a way to practice a more embodied.

Tamara Kissane:

Writing and reading experience.

Tamara Kissane:

This class is suitable for beginners and more experienced students

Tamara Kissane:

come prepared to read and write.

Tamara Kissane:

It is open to adult means 18 years.

Tamara Kissane:

Plus women writers, 12 students maximum.

Tamara Kissane:

"I will include the links in the show notes.

Tamara Kissane:

I know that you will enjoy Alison Kirkland.

Tamara Kissane:

We're in a writing group together, and she has been featured on the

Tamara Kissane:

podcast and she is totally cool.

Tamara Kissane:

Oh, okay.

Tamara Kissane:

For me, we are still settling into our new house.

Tamara Kissane:

We moved in April.

Tamara Kissane:

We're very happy.

Tamara Kissane:

My children just started school last week, and that is quite good for all of us.

Tamara Kissane:

I still have those two kids and a spouse, but since we've moved, we added

Tamara Kissane:

a cat, which brings us to three cats.

Tamara Kissane:

Six chickens and two quail.

Tamara Kissane:

I don't know.

Tamara Kissane:

What am I even doing out here in this semi rural location?

Tamara Kissane:

I dunno, I am still working on the new musical commissioned

Tamara Kissane:

by honest pint theater.

Tamara Kissane:

We had a great workshop of a way home at NC state theater Fest over the summer.

Tamara Kissane:

And now the fabulous composer, Matthew Hager, and I are continuing to

Tamara Kissane:other showing of some kind in:Tamara Kissane:

Ooh, boy, writing a musical is a long process friends.

Tamara Kissane:

It is awesome.

Tamara Kissane:

It is amazing, but you definitely need to wear your patience pants to walk

Tamara Kissane:

down the musical theater writing path.

Tamara Kissane:

Oh my Ooh, that metaphor.

Tamara Kissane:

That's that's a good one.

Tamara Kissane:

Okay.

Tamara Kissane:

And with that very poor metaphor, I will wrap up friends.

Tamara Kissane:

Thank you so much for sticking with.

Tamara Kissane:

This season, if you are a fan of artist soapbox, please

Tamara Kissane:

become a patron on Patreon.

Tamara Kissane:

Please see the link in the show notes.

Tamara Kissane:

There is work being done and monthly costs that never go away even

Tamara Kissane:

when we aren't releasing episodes.

Tamara Kissane:

So we would sure appreciate your support to keep us going.

Tamara Kissane:

And as I did at the beginning of the season, I'm including

Tamara Kissane:

our highlight reel at the end of this episode, because I love it.

Tamara Kissane:

And I think it's a great way to close out.

Tamara Kissane:

Thank you so much.

Tamara Kissane:

Be in touch and enjoy.

Tamara Kissane:

Artist soapbox creates original scripted audio fiction with immersive

Tamara Kissane:

Tamara Kissane:

me ever since you left, I'm dying.

Tamara Kissane:

E E even with all the stupid attention, I never stopped thinking about you.

Tamara Kissane:

No one else can make that.

Tamara Kissane:

Who around here has the, the, the, the, the vision, the talent, the

Tamara Kissane:

imagination to make masterpiece.

Tamara Kissane:

Trust me for those of you just joining us.

Tamara Kissane:

It's late night and we are live.

Tamara Kissane:

We're here with Sully, the hottest one name wonder in town.

Tamara Kissane:

Love how peaceful it sounds out here.

Tamara Kissane:

I know no city sounds just nature here.

Tamara Kissane:

Let me fill you up.

Tamara Kissane:

Soon.

Tamara Kissane:

After the faded destruction of the earth was projected.

Tamara Kissane:

Let's zoom in to see how the earthlings do when the faded moment arrives.

Tamara Kissane:

What's happening, do not be afraid.

Tamara Kissane:

Human.

Tamara Kissane:

I am GU where am I?

Tamara Kissane:

Who, what are you

Tamara Kissane:

right here?

Tamara Kissane:

What, today's our day LD and Sully two peas and a.

Tamara Kissane:

How did you get in here?

Tamara Kissane:

Good morning, beef.

Tamara Kissane:

Turkey.

Tamara Kissane:

That's not what I meant.

Tamara Kissane:

You're making fun of it.

Tamara Kissane:

I'm so tired of it.

Tamara Kissane:

I'm so tired of it.

Tamara Kissane:

My mother resents my existence.

Tamara Kissane:

When did you think of my plane?

Tamara Kissane:

I could eat you up.

Tamara Kissane:

You are my star.

Tamara Kissane:

We're still rolling.

Tamara Kissane:

What did you like?

Tamara Kissane:

For example, anything else?

Tamara Kissane:

You liked it all part of my process.

Tamara Kissane:

Tell me what you thought here.

Tamara Kissane:

Look.

Tamara Kissane:

Look at you.

Tamara Kissane:

Look at you.
