142: Engaging young audiences with arts educator, Dylan Bailey

Dylan Bailey is a Raleigh-based theatre artist and arts educator. In this episode, Dylan talks about theatre for youth and young audiences as performer, teacher, and creator in all kinds of spaces (both virtual and in-person).

This episode has a bit of everything — it’s so much fun!  — you’ll hear about charcuterie, a train, the Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, Peter Rabbit, Atlantis, a half dozen North Carolina theatre companies, and more. Enjoy!

Dylan Bailey is a Raleigh-based theater artist and arts educator. He holds a BFA in Theatre for Youth from East Carolina University. In 2020 he was recognized as an “Outstanding Arts Educator” by Chatham Life & Style in their publication’s Best of the Year event. He currently serves as a Women’s Theatre Festival team member, is a member of Pure Life Theatre’s core leadership, and works as Seed Art Share’s managing director. In his free time, he writes plays for young audiences! He’s acted with Seed Art Share, Burning Coal Theatre, Pittsboro Youth Theatre, Theatre in the Park, and Summer Storybook Theatre. As a teaching artist, he has worked with SAY, NCT, Raleigh Little Theatre, Applause! Cary Youth Theatre, TAP, The ArtsCenter, Seed Art Share, Burning Coal Theatre, and Starbright Little Players.

Artist Soapbox

Artist Soapbox is a platform for original scripted audio fiction and an opportunity for artists to discuss their creative work in their own voices. We do this through our interview podcast, our blog, and original audio dramas.

Artist Soapbox is an anti-racist organization. We believe Black Lives Matter. In addition, as a podcast production company, ASBX has signed the Equality in Audio Pact on Broccoli Content.

Artist Soapbox is more than just a podcast.

We lead writers groups, accountability support, workshops, and events. We produce and create audio dramas too! Listen to the Master BuilderThe New Colossus Audio Drama, Declaration of Love, and ASBX Shorts. Stay tuned to hear about more projects written by the Soapbox Audio Collective Writers’ Group.
